The short version: Preflight does not save the trips you check or the passport details you enter. It keeps a standard web access log for 90 days, and it keeps feedback you choose to send for 90 days. There are no accounts, no cookies, and no advertising or analytics trackers.

What we do not keep

When you check a trip, the destination, dates, nationalities, and passport expiry dates are sent to our server, used to work out the answer, and then discarded. They are not written to a database or a file, and we cannot look up a check afterward.

Preflight never asks for names, passport numbers, or dates of birth.

What we keep

• Web access logs, for 90 days. Like most websites, our hosting records each request: the date and time, the IP address, the browser type, the page address requested, and the page you came from. These logs do not contain the details you type into the checker. One exception: if you open a link that pre-fills a destination or travel dates, those are part of the page address and so appear in the log. We use the logs to count visits and to spot abuse, then they are deleted automatically.
• Feedback you send, for 90 days. If you use a feedback form, we keep your message, the page you sent it from, and your email address if you chose to give one. A copy is emailed to the person who runs Preflight so they can read and answer it. We use your email address only to reply to you.
• Error records. If a check fails, we record a short technical description of the error so we can fix it.

What stays in your browser

The advisor preview remembers which update notice you have already seen, using your browser's own storage. That note never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it. Preflight sets no cookies.

Who else is involved

• Amazon Web Services hosts the site and the logs, in the United States.
• Google Fonts supplies the typefaces. Your browser fetches them from Google, which means Google sees your IP address when a page loads.

We do not sell or share information about visitors, and we do not use it for advertising.

Results link to government and other official websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

Changes

Preflight is in private beta. If what we collect changes, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
